After bariatric surgery, it will be critical for you to take vitamin and mineral supplementation. Changes are made in the gastrointestinal tract during surgery that affects your body’s ability to absorb vitamins and minerals from food. Prevention of vitamins and mineral deficiencies following weight loss surgery requires lifelong commitment, consistent intake, appropriate form, and dosing. Speak with your dietitian to find out what supplements are appropriate for you and your surgery. You will be instructed to start taking vitamin/minerals 2 weeks after your surgery.
