Their Story
Describe your life before you had Weight Loss Surgery.
I have been a minister of liturgical dance for over 30 years. As much as I tried to eat health, i couldn’t stop gaining weight. The past 5yrs. I was no longer able to walk, climb stairs , or go out publicly without receiving comments. Breathing was difficult and the knee and back pain was overwhelming. Blood pressure was high
How long were you considering Weight Loss Surgery before you came in?
I had been trying to get weight loss surgery for ten years. Between layoffs, pandemic lockdowns and insurance restrictions, I had to start over the process over again and again. I finally had enough of the insurance companies tell me what need to get done. So I called Ole Del Mar Surgical team for information. With help from my family doctor and my surgical team. We were able to press through the red tape.
What was it like to work with our team?
Choosing Olde Del Mar Surgical was probably the best decision I ever made. The entire Team, was amazingly supportive. From the first day meeting with Dr. Bhoyrul, working Iris to get everything completed in time. To the amazing office support who worked hard to keep my journey on track. I am so thankful. I have to give a shout out to Miss Rachel, my Dietitian. I could not have made it through the process without her encouragement and knowledge. Working with Dr Bhoyrul, she was able to create a positive life changing experience for me. Kirsten was amazing in helping myself and my family know what we could expect. My recovery has been absolutely phenomenal.
Describe your life now, after Weight Loss Surgery.
OMG! How much time do you have!! If I could give you my life now in one word, the word would be “FREEDOM!” I am able to walk more than 2 miles with a cane, one mile without. I can walk upstairs slowly. But I can walk!!!! I am back to dancing and standing for long periods of time. Best of all, I can return to my life of enjoy family and friends without limiting anyone. I have started getting back to a normal active lifestyle. The ability to fit in my car or a booth at a restaurant are the small victory that may go unnoticed by others. For those of us who have gone through the battle of obesity understand the emotional embarrassment. I no longer have to hide myself from the world. I am now an active participant in This Beautiful Life of mine! Thank you all so very much!
