CHIEF OF SURGERY
Dr. Sunil Bhoyrul is the Chief of Surgery at Olde Del Mar Surgical and the Medical Director for Bariatric Surgery at Scripps Memorial Hospital. Additionally, he is considered by many patients and doctors to be one of the best general and bariatric surgeons in San Diego.
Dr. Bhoyrul completed his undergraduate and medical school at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. He then began his surgical training in London, England and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) of England in 1993. He was fellowship-trained in Advanced laparoscopic surgery at the University of California, San Francisco before completing his Surgical Residency at Stanford University Medical Center.
Dr. Bhoyrul performs surgery at Scripps Memorial Hospital and Sharp Coronado Hospital. He specializes in advanced minimally invasive gastrointestinal and weight loss surgery. He has a special interest in gastrointestinal oncology and is one of only a small number of surgeons that performs resections for pancreatic, gastric, and esophageal cancer.

Dr. Bhoyrul completed his research fellowship in clinical research at the University of California, San Francisco in 1995. Dr. Sunil Bhoyrul is the co-founder of MD Revolution. MD Revolution is a medical practice dedicated to using genomics and wireless health technology within their health and wellness plan. This plan is developed specifically to prevent and treat chronic illness such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
In addition to his many accomplishments, Dr. Sunil Bhoyrul is also co-editor of the textbook Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery, a first in the field.
