A New Look for 2015
One of the most common new year’s resolutions people make is to lose weight. While some easily shed the weight and sculpt their body through diet and exercise, sometimes those pesky fat deposits just won’t go away. Even targeted workouts may not get rid of those fat pockets.
It gets worse as we age, regardless of sex. Hormones drive the deposition of fat around the pelvis, buttocks, and thighs of women and the bellies of men.
For women, this so-called sex-specific fat appears to be physiologically advantageous, at least during pregnancies. But it has a cosmetic downside as well, in the form of cellulite. The potbelly, on the other hand, is a typical male form of obesity that has no known advantage and can be life threatening.
At Olde Del Mar Surgical Medical Group in La Jolla, Calif., our team of bariatric surgeons uses the latest technology available, including using the Triplex laser technology to perform a Smart Lipo procedure.
Smart Lipo Triplex is the most advanced form of Smart Lipo laser technology. Unlike Smart Lipo, which uses two lasers to melt away fat cells, the Triplex laser also melts fat cells and tightens skin thanks to the triple wavelength form of laser technology.
The triple wavelengths can be used together or separately and allow for specialized body contouring, high-definition laser sculpting and skin-tightening settings, customized to the patient and areas of fat to be treated.
Candidates for Smart Lipo Triplex include patients who are in good health and not obese. This surgery is for body sculpting and getting rid of those fat pockets that won’t go away despite diet and exercise. This procedure is ideal for getting rid of excess neck, belly, inner thigh and upper arm fat.
The amount of area on your body being treated depends on body type and weight. Slender patients can have up to eight areas worked on in one session. Average patients may have up to six separate areas of treatment in one session, and heavier patients may have up to three areas treated at one time.
Unlike typical laparoscopic procedures, most patients usually see results immediately, and others need more time for the swelling to go down before seeing the difference.
At our local La Jolla office, patients undergo local anesthesia, which reduces risks, complications and side effects.
At Olde Del Mar Surgical, our surgeons are highly trained in the safe, effective use of the laparoscopic techniques. Contact us at 858.457.4917 for a consultation. Together we can get you on the road to a better you.
